November is "get it ready, get it done" month, especially for prospective freshman applicants! Although the freshman regular decision application deadline is not until January 1st, November is a good time to finish up your application essays and short answer personal statements, and contact teachers who you want to provide recommendations.
November is also a good time to schedule an audition or to finish up a portfolio if you need one for the program to which you will be applying. (Note that our Steinhardt School is sponsoring Audition Day for prospective music majors on Saturday, November 7th, and Portfolio Day for prospective studio art majors on Sunday, November 15th. To register, go to www.nyu.edu/education/auditionday or to www.nyu.edu/education/portfolioday.
And, if you haven't had the opportunity to visit NYU yet, November is a great time to visit New York City! We offer regularly scheduled information sessions and campus tours every day Monday through Friday (and some Saturdays). Reservations are required, and these fill up quickly, so click here to make your reservation now.
Don't procrastinate! With the Thanksgiving holiday and then the many holiday-related events that occur in December, January 1st is actually a lot closer than it seems!
