New York University is made up of 14 separate schools; eight of these are devoted to undergraduate education. That a renowned research university commits so much of its resources to undergraduate education demonstrates our dedication to teaching and preparing young adults for the world around them.
Twenty-five hundred undergraduate courses and more than 160 programs of study are available. While the curriculum in each college varies, all schools have a strong liberal arts underpinning. The College of Nursing is NYU's newest college! From 1932 to 2005, the Division of Nursing was located in NYU's Steinhardt School of Education. Two full-time programs are offered: the four-year Bachelor of Science degree programs in hotel and tourism management and the B.S. degree program in sports management and leisure studies.

The Robert Preston Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management at the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) offers four-year Bachelor of Science degrees in both Hotel and Tourism Management and in Sports Management and Leisure Studies through the Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management. Our program is comprehensive and interdisciplinary, with a strong, well-integrated career orientation. The curriculum focuses on finance and management issues, so whether your goal is to develop destination and tourism products, manage hotel assets, or run a sports organization, you will be well-prepared to assume leadership positions in your chosen field.
In addition to the above programs for traditional-age students, SCPS also offers degree and noncredit programs for adults and part-time students.
The Global Liberal Studies Program

New for the fall of 2009, the Global Liberal Studies Program is a rigorous course of study in the liberal arts that emphasizes the great works and combines ideas, materials, and methodologies from multiple fields of inquiry, including literature, history, philosophy, political science, physical and biological sciences, mathematics, foreign languages, music, and art.

Sophmore seminars reinforce the global perspective infused throughout the core curriculum and prepare students to spend their junior year abroad at one of NYU's many international study campuses in Africa, Asia, and Europe. The senior year in New York combines advanced course work with a guided research project that integrates the four years of study.
The Liberal Studies Program

The Liberal Studies Program, under the aegis of the Faculty of Arts and Science, is a two-year interdisciplinary liberal arts program offered to select students at Washington Square and at several NYU sites abroad. Students who successfully complete the program transition to the school or college they selected when they applied.

While all students at NYU will have a liberal arts component in their curriculum, a select group of freshmen determined by the Admissions Committee will be offered the opportunity begin their studies at NYU in the Liberal Studies Program. Both the Liberal Studies Program and the College of Arts and Science are under the aegis of the Faculty of Arts and Science.
Students who are offered this opportunity begin their studies with a two-year interdisciplinary liberal arts education, including a writing sequence and core courses that introduce them to great books from the ancient world to the present. These courses fulfill the bachelor's degree liberal arts requirements for several of NYU's schools and colleges. After successful completion of this program, which is offered at Washington Square and at several NYU sites abroad, students transition directly into the school or college offering the program that they selected when they originally applied to the University.
