Early Decision
If you are a freshman applicant who is certain that NYU is your first-choice college, and you are prepared to attend if you are offered admission, we encourage you to apply under the Early Decision Option. Students applying as Early Decision candidates will receive their admission decision in December or early January. If you are offered admission through Early Decision, you must withdraw all applications you may have submitted to other colleges and pay a tuition deposit within three weeks of notification.
If you apply online, follow the screen prompts for either the online NYU Application or the online Common Application to indicate your desire to be considered for Early Decision admission. If you use the paper version of the Common Application to apply for admission, follow the instructions to indicate your status as an Early Decision applicant to New York University.
All Early Decision applicants are required to complete the Early Decision Agreement Form by signing it yourself and having a parent or guardian and your college adviser/guidance counselor sign as well. If you apply online, the Early Decision Agreement may be submitted along with your high school transcript. If you apply using the paper version of the Common Application, the Early Decision Agreement Form should be submitted with your application.
NYU provides Early Decision applicants who are offered admission with estimated financial aid awards. Please see the Financial Aid section on this website and the Early Decision Financial Aid Application for instructions. Early Decision applicants who do not file the Early Decision Program Financial Aid Application will not be considered for NYU need-based financial aid.
We believe that part of our commitment to Early Decision applicants is an "early" decision, and we either admit or deny Early Decision candidates. Please note that Early Decision students who are denied admission may not reapply as Regular Decision applicants
