Transfer Credit

Transfer credit is evaluated on a course by course basis. Courses eligible for transfer must be taken for credit at an accredited college within the last ten years and you must have earned a minimum grade of "C". If you are offered admission, you will receive a detailed evaluation of transfer credit with your offer of admission. (All courses specific to your intended major will be reviewed by the appropriate academic department.) We are not able to evaluate your coursework until you are offered admission.

NYU awards credit for the College Board Advances Placement (AP) examinations for scores of 4 and 5 on most examinations. In order to receive credit, you must have official score results forwarded directly to us from the College Board (NYU code is 2562).

We also award credit and/or advanced standing for grades of 6 or 7 on the International Baccalaureate (IB) higher level examinations. Official IB results should be sent as soon as they are available.

If you completed college courses while in high school (either during the summer or during the school year), we generally grant credit if you received a grade of "C" or better in the courses, and if the courses are similar to courses offered at NYU (and if the courses did not also satisfy high school graduation requirements). You should provide official transcripts for any courses you completed during high school with your application for admission.
