Scholarships

We know that for many students, financial aid is an important consideration in deciding where to go to college. Financial aid packages at NYU take into account both financial need and academic merit and are awarded when a student is offered admission. NYU is not able to meet the full need of most students; however, we will attempt to provide students with an aid package that will make attendance possible.

While merit-based scholarships are available, NYU is committed to using the vast majority of its' scholarship funds to assist students whose families are unable to pay the full cost of an NYU education. Only 5% of the 2009 entering class received merit-based scholarships (which ranged in value from $1,000 to $25,000). Also, please note that not all NYU schools/colleges award merit-based scholarships.

NYU offers several general scholarship programs in which all of our undergraduate schools participate. In addition, most of our schools offer their own "school-based" scholarships and/or scholars programs. Click on a type of scholarship on the right for more information.

Please note that no special applications are required for NYU merit scholarships. All qualified applicants are automatically considered. Students wishing to be considered for need-based aid must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For detailed information on filing the FAFSA, click here.
